Study Visa for Singapore
An international student in Singapore with an acceptance from an educational institution to pursue their full-time study in Singapore is required to apply for a Student’s Pass, which is taken care of by the University itself.
The requirements and procedures for a Student’s Pass slightly vary depending on the type of educational institution being studied in.
Universities in Singapore, once you enroll in the desired program, will lodge an electronic application for the STP (Student’s Pass) through the ICA (Immigration and Checkpoints Authority Website) online. The lead time for this is 3-4 weeks, after which you are issued the Approval Letter.
The IPA (In-principle Approval) is issued only after deposit of the first instalment of the tuition fee. The validity of the IPA depends on the length of your course, but it is currently being issued with a validity of 6 months.
You will be issued a confirmation of approval, and then you have to appear in person with medical records (TB test, HIV blood test) to collect the STP in person. The medical tests can be done either in your home country, or in Singapore (at the university clinic, or other recognized institutions)
P.S.: As an international student in Singapore, you are legally required to have the STP on your person all the time. You’re liable to pay a fine if caught without it, so always have the STP with you!
